We’re Moving!

March 26, 2026

The move is underway!

We received the Certificate of Occupancy for our new office building on Monday, March 23, and starting Thursday, March 26, movers started transferring files, furniture and equipment to TARCOG’s new home at 4976 Corporate Drive NW in the MidCity District.

Our last official day will be Tuesday, March 31, at our temporary space in the Research Park Office Center at 7037 Old Madison Pike, Suite 450.

Executive Director Michelle Gilliam Jordan said the ribbon cutting at the new office is scheduled for Thursday, April 16, at 10 a.m. We are honored that State Rep. Rex Reynolds has agreed to be our guest speaker.

TARCOG is known as the Area Agency on Aging as well as for doing its part to keep the North Alabama economic engine humming. Now, the 58year-old agency is embracing its own growth with the new $8 million office with 25,000 square feet.

“Everyone is excited,” Michelle said. “From our board, staff, — and even the community. We’ve heard so many positive comments and we are ready to get settled in and share this space as we continue our mission.”

Michelle said she’s hopeful that it will be easy for everyone to find since TARCOG’s new home is about three blocks east of its longtime office site next to the Orion Amphitheater.

While TARCOG isn’t expecting any delays in service to clients, Michelle said she anticipates it will take a few weeks to get the new office space fully set up and operational.

“Our team has been preparing for months,” Michelle said. “On Thursday, the movers took over to started moving everything to our new space.”

The majority of staff will work virtually during the moving process, then, a hybrid work schedule will be implemented to allow time for unpacking without impacting service levels, she said.

For the next two weeks, Michelle asks that anyone needing TARCOG assistance to call 256-830-0818, rather than visiting the new office. Once the ribbon cutting occurs in mid-April, Michelle said she expects the office to be fully open to the public.
