How long have you been on the TARCOG Board? Are you now or have you previously been on the executive committee? I have been on the board since 2014, and I have never served on the executive committee.
What has been your biggest professional achievement? Being elected and re-elected as Geraldine’s mayor since 2012.
What career advice do you live by? Who gave it to you? “I should be the most presumptuous blockhead upon this footstool if I for one day thought that I could discharge the duties which have come upon me, since I came to this place, without the aid and enlightenment of One who is stronger and wiser than all others.” Quote from Abraham Lincoln.
What would be the theme song of your life right now? Title and artist. It Is Well With My Soul. Horatio Spafford.
Who is someone who has made a big impact on your life? Why? My parents. They made sure I always went to church with them. They taught me to always tell the truth, treat everyone fairly and “always do what you know is right.”
What is a fun fact that people probably don’t know about you! I guess I am not much fun. I had trouble coming up with something. My grandkids are the fifth generation of my family to graduate from Geraldine High School. My grandparents graduated from Geraldine in 1925.
Where are you from? Where did you go/graduate high school. I grew up in Geraldine and graduated from Geraldine High School in 1968.
Do you have any hobbies? I like to garden and travel.
Favorite place you have traveled? I must mention a few. Bryce Canyon, Mount Rushmore, Badlands. Ellis Island and The Statue of Liberty.
What’s one item you can’t live without? I almost said my Bible, but with a Bible app on my phone, and so much information available, I will say my phone.
