Job Title: Medicaid Waiver Case Manager
How long have you been at TARCOG, and what do you do? I’ve been here for 11 months. I’m responsible for managing care for seniors and disabled adults by assessing their long-term services and support needs. That includes developing and monitoring care plans and facilitating service provision by service providers.
What did you want to be when you grew up? A physical therapist.
What do you hope to accomplish within the next year? To continue to keep the communication and connection bond with my fiancé and our daughter; align my financial goals; and work on healthy conflict resolution techniques.
Who is your hero and why? My daughter, Alivia Blair Barber. Alivia was born at 32 weeks. She suffers from bilateral hearing loss, but she has not let her disability define her. She has overcome many silent battles, quiet victories, and secret tears. Through it all, Alivia shines. I am so proud to be her mom, to witness how beautiful her soul and spirit are, and to see how she has grown into a beautiful young lady.
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be? Visit a new city.
What is the best piece of advice someone has given you? “There’s a right way to do the wrong thing.”
What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done? Ride my Harley Davidson I named Irene at 115 m.p.h.
Who knows you the best? My daughter, Alivia.
What would you do if you won the lottery? Give God his portion, get out of debt, and give back to the community by building shelters for the homeless, battered women, etc.
