TARCOG Fort Payne Board of Education in Securing ARC Funding for Vocational Center

The Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments (TARCOG) supported the Fort Payne Board of Education in applying for and receiving grant funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to construct the BEAT Center, a vocational-tech building that will train Fort Payne high school students in building, electric, and aviation technology.  ARC’s $1 million dollar grant will be matched by approximately $500,000 of local funds to construct and outfit the building which will provide a workplace environment setting to train students in the professional skills necessary to ready them for careers in building/construction, electric vehicles, and drone aviation technologies.  TARCOG is pleased to assist Fort Payne BOE in securing ARC funding and will support project implementation and administration moving forward.  For more information, please see Governor Ivey’s announcement of the project: https://adeca.alabama.gov/2021/05/11/gov-ivey-announces-grant-to-build-vocational-school-in-fort-payne/
