Congressman Robert Aderholt and Governor Kay Ivey were at the Guntersville State Park on August 29 to conduct a Roundtable and later Public event to discuss the importance of Rural Broadband to communities across the state.  Also presenting remarks was Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development Anne Hazlett, who said “Access to high speed internet is a lifeline to opportunity.”  She discussed the need for effective broadband communication – eConnectivity – across the state, but especially in rural areas in order to help businesses and students at all levels.  Alabama House Speaker Mac McCutcheon and Senator Clay Scofield were involved, and spoke about specific challenges in rural areas.  Several electric co-op representatives from across north Alabama provided input about the issues they face.
