On June 24, the multinational technology company Google announced plans to build a state of the art data center in Stevenson. Google chose Jackson County for this center because of the combination of energy infrastructure at the TVA Widow’s Creek facility, and the land that can be developed. Google is the most visited website in the world, and provides a variety of internet services such as productivity software such as email, cloud storage service, and an office suite. Up to 100 jobs will be filled with the data center, in a variety of full-time and contractor roles. The entire region welcomes Google to the area, as they plan to start construction in 2016. The new data center will look similar to this picture.
